INTRODUCTION
In the 2021/22 academic year, the Batley Multi Academy Trust partnered with the University of Leeds to deliver an educational initiative designed to support children’s understanding of the role of science for society.
The Imaginarium 2022 follows a journey of discovery through art and science. The exhibition showcases creative responses produced by years 4, 5, 7 and 8 at Batley Grammar School, Field Lane J I and N School, Upper Batley High School, and Batley Girls’ High School.
THE WORLD OF MICROORGANISMS
Years 4, 5, 7 and 8 have been exploring the wonderful world of microorganisms through playful experimentation, observation, and making.

Coronavirus
Students have been learning about the dynamics of virus structure and function by getting hands on with mechanical models. Year 4 and 5 have been exploring the structure of coronavirus, creating the capsid shell and genomic material encased inside.

SCIENCE FOR SOCIETY
Year 4 and 5 have learnt about the role of science for society and how our understanding of disease has developed through time. Through creative storytelling, students have reflected on everyday science superheroes in our communities and created storybook characters of heroes and villains.
